Tips From The Field
Acoustics are everything!
You want people to hear what you want them to hear, and not hear what you don't want them to hear!
Purchase your own amplifier and wireless microphones.
-
-
An AMP will cost < $100, and a pair of mics will cost < $100.
-
Two Mics – one for the primary caller, the other for the standby caller
-
make sure you have EXTRA batteries for mics!
-
Place your speaker(s) IN FRONT of the caller (reduce feedback)
-
if you get a complaint that people can’t hear, FIX IT. If they can’t hear you, they won’t bid, and that doesn’t help you!
-
Note To Self – Get fifine extra receiver and second amp to put in back of venue!
Let’s hear the coins – use glass(?) or metal plates for the quarter collection plates on the tables.
-
-
We use tin pie plates with thin cork feet:
-
Metal sounds almost as good as glass when raised off the table (hence the thin cork feet)
-
Metal dropped doesn’t break
-
Pie Tins are “low rise” so our coin collectors can see if there are any coins to be collected.
-
Pie Tins “Stack” – you can store 20 of them in a small box!
