DMWA Guests

Delaware Magical Wishes Association Quarter Auction Specifics

(2020 Spring / American Legion Hall, Dover) (Not Yet Updated for 2021!)

Before the event, you can pre-register your favorite paddle and save seats for your friends with a free table reservation at tiny.cc/DMWAreg . If you pre-register, you can skip the number selection line at the event, and go to the cashier.

If you haven’t pre-registered, when you arrive at the door, you will be asked to select a Quarter Auction Poker Chip (or two or three) numbered from 1 to 400. Once you have made your selection, one of our volunteers will ask you what numbers you have, and whether you want a Standard Paddle ($5) or an All-In Paddle ($45) – more on that later, so read ahead if you’ve never been to one before…

You then go to the cashier, show them your paddles, and pay them the total amount for all of your paddles and get a program.

You find the Poker Chip Barrel at the front of the hall, and drop your chip in the barrel – Please make sure you do this!.

Then look at all of the lots at the front of the hall and special raffles along the side – you can buy tickets for those raffles at that table. The lots will generally have retail value of $20-$100, with perhaps a few higher value lots.
Please visit the vendors at the back of the hall – they have donated items for our cause, and are hoping that you will visit their tables, and possible purchase items if you didn’t win one of their lots.
The American Legion Riders will be providing food & drink at the rear of the hall as well.
Also, look at the program – it will list all of the lots with a description and number of quarters for that lot. It will also give you the names of all of the vendors, and any special donors.

The DMWA Quarter Auction will have an overhead projector so you can see the lot from your seat, and the MC will have more information about the lot as well.

Anything Else at DMWA Quarter Auctions?

Yes! All of the proceeds from the Quarter Auction lots, raffles, and 50/50 go directly to DMWA to benefit the Give Kids The World Village.

You may pay for a Standard paddle, and after looking at all the good stuff, wish you had purchased an All-In Paddle… Well, at our auctions, you can Paddle-Upgrade – just return to the check-in table with your Standard Paddle, pay the difference, and get a colorful All-In Paddle. Depending on anticipated crowds, we may initially limit guests to 3 paddles. If there are sufficient paddles available prior to the beginning, we may open it up to more or even “unlimited”.

Buy One (All-In), Get One (Standard) Paddle – Free – in 2021, when you purchase a All-In Paddle, you can select another Standard Paddle for free. Standard Paddle bidding rules apply for that paddle, so if you don’t want to use quarters, please do NOT hold up that paddle!

Quarters will be on-sale at the check-in table throughout the evening. We use a high-speed counting machine to quickly and accurately count $10 worth of quarters into individual bags.

All-In Paddle Holder - Click to enlargeWe now sell our own All-In Paddle Holders. They also work great for home photos. They are a bargain at $5 to keep your arm from falling asleep holding your All-In Paddle up. Jusy email me if you want to purchase one: jacayz@gmail.com

Don’t want to haul a whole bunch of heavy quarters home after the event? We will gladly recycle them for you to the Give Kids The World Village! Just look for the large container on the cashier’s table on your way out the door!

DMWA Food & Drink

Food and Drink is provided by the American Legion Riders. All profits from their volunteer work goes towards the American Legion Legacy Foundation – which helps ensure that children who have lost a parent in war receive the education they need and deserve. Now, we won’t prohibit you from bringing your own food in, especially if it is a dietary necessity, but please do think of the children that the Legion Riders are helping by you supporting their effort. PLEASE Support them!
